Morts There's an intended psychedelic space-rock vibe to this album, both lyrically and musically. Underneath all that I can hear that it's based around a kernel of jangly guitar pop and rock that was the at the root of much of the '90s indie pop/rock scene (Lemonheads, Veruca Salt and Treble Charger for example). Perhaps some kinda "cruisy Hawkwind, Steve Hillage, '90s-indie pop hybrid" would be an apt descriptor? Great music for lazy day (or night) chilling out! Favorite track: The Creature.

Space Suit Man The night begins It's time to win Take your stand Put on your space suit man We are in the stars We are far from Mars We are in the stars We are We start again Come on let's call your friends This one really knocks me out Hey, we're passing Jupiter now We are in the stars We are far from Mars We are in the stars We are far I'd like to take the time to say hello It's fun to see my space ship start to glow Sometimes it gets so lonely, I should know I'd like to take the time to say hello The sun will shine We can travel through time I knew I could count on you We built a ship and landed on Mars We are from the stars We are far from Mars We are from the stars We are far I'd like to take the time to say hello It's fun to see my space ship start to glow Sometimes it gets so lonely, I should know I'd like to take the time to say hello

Another Place Come on take me to another place I'm getting tired of the human race There's no one behind the image This masquerade's getting out of place A certain death full of disgrace Why leave with blood on your hands? I can feel the universe But what does it say to me? Can I heal the universe inside me? But what can I say to you? Do you feel this too? Can you even feel? What am I saying to you? Get out of my way! Hey!

The Creature 07:04
The Creature Take me I can hardly see in here What is it that I'm supposed to know? Take me I can hardly breath in here Which way am I supposed to go? It's hard for me to grow through The challenge of the unknown I'll find a place to begin See through the colors The atmosphere is thin Is it the same in your world? What did I do? I used to own a store and a fleet of antique cars but now I'm a salesman selling condos in the stars In the stars In the stars Take me to your leader You know I really need a breather I'm moving back and forth through space and time Take me to your leader All my friends have gone My family has left me behind All my friends have gone My planet has left me to die

Falling 03:17
Falling I can't seem to hide, find the right tree I will fly so high till I can see Falling on the ground it will be Why me? Why can't I be free? My folks ate my mind plain to see Now I run around blind but I can sing Falling on the ground it will be Why me? Why can't I be free? Hey look at him he's on a mission man! Keeps his memories in the sand Cuts his nose and he slits his face He'd shoot himself just to split this place Challenge his reason and he's on the attack Is it his mind? Can he ever come back? Come Back - Come Back - Come Back! When I turn to help he laughs at me Thinks that when he's dead he'll find some peace Falling on the ground it will be Why me? Why can't I be free? Heaven or Hell it's cruel which one should I be? I want to shave my head and join the Marines Falling on the ground it will be Why me? Why can't I be free? Hey look at him he needs permission man! He lives according to his master plan He cuts his nose and he slits his face He'd shoot himself just to split this place Challenge his reason and he's on the attack Is it his mind? Can he ever come back? Come Back - Come Back - Come Back!

Beyond 05:55
Beyond When I was a child And things where small The world was big Imagination was tall I lost the world to a dream To know the other side of what it means For I have come to know the fear of resistance My mind fills with confusion and I got to find a solution from the Lies Times have changed Things are not the same You're in a prison where there Aren't any walls when you're Sold to reach the vision of your dreams The highest bid controls the ways and means I have come to know the highs of persistence My mind fills with confusion and I got to find a solution My mind is the institution and I've got to find a solution I chose the illusion

Salvation Army Girl Don't hesitate to donate My body and brain Coffee and doughnuts The street bum's insane Fat secretary, she called out my name She said, "When things get hairy just flush him down the drain" And change the way you feel He hasn't learned how to steal Like the bums in the street Falling down at your feet Cause it's stone cold and out of sight She got the potion that takes me through the night Her brand of lotion's gonna make it all alright My hearts in motion and this aint my kind of fight Salvation army girl Can you hear me? Salvation army girl Will you come near me? Salvation army girl Will you endear me? Salvation army girl My head is leery Don't hesitate to donate My body and brain Coffee and doughnuts The street bum's insane Fat secretary, she called out my name She said, "When things get hairy just flush him down the drain" And change the way you feel And the flesh wounds are too real He hasn't learned how to steal Like the bums in the street He hasn't learned how to steal He hasn't learned how to steal Like the bums in the street Falling down at your feet

I'm Having Visions Last night I walked the hallway Wondering what to say My attention falls shortly now The old mans moved away Feeling cold and shot down Holding on to my breath I drowning and I'm trying to scream There's an echo in the confusion There's a solid in the seams There's water on the edge of town and it's Boiling in my dreams I'm having visions Within my comfort zone Within my comfort zone Every night I just can't sleep I'm falling apart at the seams I'm having visions of dancing lights and You where in my dreams The panic of the stress is just out of sight Holding on to my breath I'm drowning and I'm trying to scream My brain is frying in the transfusion and You're standing there staring at me I'm having visions Within my comfort zone Don't you know its never been easy To tell you what I know Don't you know it's never been easy I gotta let it go I'm having visions I gotta let them go Within my comfort zone Within my comfort zone

This album beats like a heart. The “Space Man” avatar moves from reality to imagination to the outer limits of love--the listener has transmissions from the external world, but from a removed, contemplative distant. Another Place is raucous. The chemistry of the group allows for a polished soundscape, lit up by insane star-cluster guitar riffs. They emit a low-profile, Sex Pistol vibe. Stand-out tracks include The Creature, I'm Having Visions, Answer the Call, You’re Alive. Effect: poetry from a rover that has developed self-awareness. Combining the audacious and the supernatural. A spectacular debut. ~ Kodiak
